A Look At The Olympia Electronic Compact Keyboard Module

Thomas takes a look at the keyboard module from an Olympia Electronic Compact (it’s unclear which model it actually came from), which is a chunky unit with thick keycaps and interesting switches–Mitsumi standard mechanical. These are the big brothers of Mitsumi’s miniature switches, which are much-reviled. These fullsize ones appear to be significantly better, though. The module also uses nice keycaps with a distinctive styling.

Additionally, there is a guest appearance of an Apple Extended Keyboard II with a tactile, Alps-mount version of the same switch. They are an old design, with quite a few parallels to Alps switches, but with a unique tactile element that’s explained in the video.
