I wanted to write a small post just to let everyone know that I finally have the time to really start overhauling the store. Over the next month or two I will be working on getting items in stock from as many community makers that I can. As mentioned on the /r/mechmarket interview and Board Makers Podcast, the store is no longer going to be a place where I personally make any profit at KeyChatter. My vision for the new store is simply to provide a platform for the small artisans and community makers to have items for sale, and giving them a wider audience than just the forums. By buying items in bulk (however large or small) from the makers, I can in turn handle the shipping and order fulfillment allowing them to spend more time making and developing their own items. Items pricing will be set by the builders, and the only additional price I will be asking for is shipping costs. Again, my main purpose of this is to help the community members that have started making items for the community, as that is something that I both admire and want to encourage in any way that I can. I will also be working with the makers to sell their standard items as well as developing items that are exclusive to the KeyChatter store.
The new store will go live after I get some product in from a few makers. I will also start selling some of the keyboards that I review and exclusive items from the store as well. These sales will help me continue to be able to spend the majority of my time writing about keyboards! If you are a maker and want to inquire about having items for sale in the store, or have suggestions please feel free to email me at [email protected]
