Keyboard Potpourri: Max Keyboard challenging WASD on keycap customization, V60 Mini w/ linear Matias pre-order, and Ducky skyline spacebars

  • Until now, WASD Keyboards has been the only game in town for designing and ordering made-on-demand, custom keycap sets. No longer, though, as Max Keyboard is now offering its own service. Blank full sets in the color of your choice are available now, but custom legends are only available on one-off single keycaps, not full sets. Also, the checkout process is far from streamlined, requiring you to copy and paste a long code, so I’d say Max Keyboard still has work to do. For legends it appears both companies use the same UV printing technology. Custom backlit keycaps are also said to be coming soon. I’ll try to get my hands on sets from WASD and Max and put them head-to-head in a review.
  • MechanicalKeyboards.com has the KBParadise V60 Mini with Matias Quiet Linear switches available for pre-order. The V60 Mini will be the first retail keyboard to feature Quiet Linear switches.
  • Ducky has said skyline spacebars will be available soon, although it’s not clear whether they’ll be sold as one-offs or as part of complete keycap sets. Looks like they have at least two cities so far.
