WARNING: This post is about a sexy keycap set for people who do sexy things. It’s about a bunch of big hard keycaps molded in rock hard doubleshot plastic. Thrusting onto your keyboard strongly. Again and again. Pounding onto your keyboard, making your keyboard beg for it. Your keyboard wants it and KeyChatter wants to give it to your keyboard. That’s what this is all about. If you’re not down with that, then click here to go to BuzzFeed instead and remain a shell of a human for the rest of your life. If you’re ready to change your life and become a goth sex man-god politician and keycap deity, keep reading.
What if I told you there was a Cherry MX keycap set so rare, that fewer than 10 sets are known to exist?
What if I also told you it’s one of the most beautiful keysets ever?
Let me introduce you to the Triumph Adler Dario 286:
Originally manufactured 33 years ago, these keyboards were only briefly sold with mail-order 286 machines in Europe. They were originally bright blue, but thanks to a serendipitous flaw in the plastic mixture, they aged over time to a beautiful teal color. Very few sets were produced in the first place, and 99% were lost to time.
Until now, the few remaining copies of this keycap set have traded hands only among privileged collectors, out of reach to you and me.
But that’s all about to change.
After long negotiations, GMK, a German electronic design firm that now owns the original Cherry keycap molds and manufacturing equipment, has agreed to produce 100% authentic replicas of the Triumph Adler Dario 286 keycap set. Because GMK has to carefully mix and replicate the unique teal granulate, this will be a limited-time, exclusive chance to get your hands on one of these sets. In all likelihood, these caps will never again be produced on planet Earth. 🙂 It is also the first-ever GMK group buy with a custom color. (All previous buys have used stock colors selected from GMK’s in-stock swatches.)
I, along with Photekq, have carefully updated the original layout so the replicas will fit on almost any modern keyboard, including Poker IIs, QFRs, Filcos, KULs–you name it. Here’s a render of what it’s going to look like (click to enlarge):
The caveat is that we will need a LOT of people to join this group buy for it to happen–at least 500 and there will be even bigger savings if we can get to 1,000 sets. That’s why we need Massdrop’s help.
So look at it, want it, yearn for it, crave it, and then go vote on it on Massdrop. And when the drop hits, BUY IT.
You won’t get a second chance.
